Core Supported Tracy Chevalier Book Signing Event Using Margret Atwood's Innovative LongPen.
4 June 2007- Core are delighted to have assisted Unotchit Inc. and GeneX Solutions in the successful book signing with author Tracy Chevalier, using Margret Atwood's innovative LongPen device.
Core, a premier Microsoft Gold Partner, provided network support and onsite support services for the computerised remote-signing device, LongPen, at the book signing event.
London novelist Tracy Chevalier was using the LongPen in her study in London to sign copies of her new novel Burning Bright for people at the Book Expo America in New York.
The LongPen creates a virtual autograph session between author and audience; allowing the author to sign from anywhere in the world. The author writes on a tablet and the signature is electronically transmitted to a robotic arm holding a pen that signs the book. The LongPen relies on Tanberg video conferencing technology to create live interactions between the author and audience. Authors can make public appearances by video, conduct readings, take questions, and have intimate face-to-face conversations with fans in real-time over the Internet.
