Margret Atwood Relies on Core to Extend Reach of the LongPen.
24 September 2007 - Core are delighted to have assisted Unotchit Inc and GeneX Solutions in the successful book signing event in London with Margret Atwood's innovative LongPen device.
Core, a premier Microsoft Gold Partner, provided network support and onsite support services for the computerised remote-signing device, LongPen, at the book signing event in London.
London adventure novelist Kate Mosse was using the LongPen in London to sign paperback copies of her bestseller Labyrinth. At the same time, author Margret Atwood was appearing live from Edinburgh, reading from her latest, Moral Disorder, and signing copies via her LongPen.
The LongPen creates a virtual autograph session between author and audience; allowing the author to sign from anywhere in the world. The author writes on a tablet and the signature is electronically transmitted to a robotic arm holding a pen that signs the book. The LongPen relies on Tanberg video conferencing technology to create live interactions between the author and audience. Authors can make public appearances by video, conduct readings, take questions, and have intimate face-to-face conversations with fans in real-time over the Internet.
